about

Brothers and Sisters,

This one was supposed to be the last single of the series, but there's still three more to come in the back pocket, and a bonus closer I have planned for Sunday. It's two totally different versions of the same song.

Led Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You" is my favourite song by those dudes. It may even be a contender for my favourite of all time, but it's hard to compartmentalize that kind of stuff. I've sang this song hundreds of times, easily, and was one of the songs I was most excited to play when I got Faiz Zeppelin up and running.

"SIBLY II" is the first time I got to perform this one in front of a crowd. We've gotten better at the sprawl of it as time has passed, but there's something we caught that night that makes it dear to me. Mind you, it's from a set where we rehearsed as a full group literally once, and I had lost my voice almost completely the day of the show. It felt like high stakes that day, and it still continues to confound me.

"SIBLY I" is an alternate version for voice and guitar that I wrote using their lyrics and a fractured take on the guitar chords that no longer resembles the original. I'm actually revisiting the music I wrote for this one as a wholly new piece using a letter I wrote to Jimmy as lyrics. Going to be doing a guerilla performance of it tomorrow as part of a class and I'm gripped to give this one some new life.

Super fun fact: this was actually supposed to be released on February 29th (which doesn't exist in the calendar for 2015), as FZep guitarist, Peter Bardouniotis is a leap year baby. Happy Belated, Electro.

Sincerely,
Faiz Razi
